Just as the title suggests, even though it’s only July, it’s going to be fall before you know it, and everyone needs cute knitted accessories during the autumn months! So it’s time for another Tumblr knit swap!
Because it IS still summer, it’s not very fun to knit large items such as scarves or…
I just signed up for this swap. And as I have never actually knit a hat or a pair of socks, it is going to be a true challenge.
Got my fabric, ready to make a rug! (Check out The Art Assignment for more on whats going on here!)
I didn’t have a lot of fabric around the house I could crochet into a rug, so I went to this amazing craft supply thrift store (Scrap DC, if anyone is in the area) to pick up a bunch of donated cloth. Since I couldn’t use something I had already worn, I wanted to make my rug out of something that already had a life to it, find a way to take that history and make it into something new.
When I left DC in December I donated ALL of my fabric stash, sewing machine and a lot of other art supplies to Scrap DC. That place is AMAZING. It was number four on my list of Top 10 things I’d miss about DC. After not having it for 6 months, I would probably bump it up to number 2 or 3.
I bet you have some of my old fabric. In fact, that blue and white check looks awfully familiar…
